The people of India have had a really interesting journey as a nation over the last 75 years. And it has been documented as well in a very interesting manner. How? Not only through our achievements but also in the way we spread the message of patriotism.
This #IndependenceDay Quantum Leap Studio takes a look back at this interesting journey through the advertisements that touched our heart and has stayed with us since, no matter the number of years.
#YouAreMyParleG - 2018
One of the oldest biscuit brands of India, Parle-G decided to make use of a real life story sent to them as part of the #YouAreMyParleG campaign. The Armed Forces film focuses on the home-coming of a soldier and the many relationships he continues to nurture despite being away from home. A departure from the ads focusing on soldiers and their sacrifices on the border, the campaign takes a more personal approach and shows the softer side of a soldier - or a man's life.
#HappyIndependenceNight - 2018
What's the use of a country's independence if the women do not feel safe? In a very pertinent yet quite hitting the bull's eye kind of a campaign - #HappyIndependenceNight, Vivo showcased women's daily struggles as they try to find a space in the male-dominated society. The ad focuses on the immediate danger that a woman finds herself in when her car breaks down or if she finds herself surrounded by a group of men. And how important it is that she is proven wrong when she finds help and safety by the same men.
#InTheNameOfLiberty - 2019
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUgFTKGsh7Q&t=1s The #InTheNameOfLiberty campaign by Liberty Shoes takes the Mahatma Gandhi quote a step further through demonstrations of everyday callous behaviours that we engage in, even as we claim to deeply love our country and fight its enemies. Through multifarious people from everyday life, it puts forth the many issues that plague the country showing how the citizens have become quite comfortable with their existence. The changes have to come from us if we are so bothered by the problems that we create through our learned behaviours.
#UnitedByFaith Independence Day Campaign of 2017
Talk about India and there's no way you can escape it's multi-religious identity. The #UnitedByFaith Independence Day Campaign of 2017 brings across a story of an old man in Lucknow. What's unique is the perfect merger of communal harmony with personal religious freedom that in reality is the life of many people from different religions in India. At the end of the day, it's humanity that keeps the world going.
Nike: Parallel Journeys - 2012
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zek1PqGSll0 A country where cricket is a religion cannot miss on creating ads that celebrate the magic of the game. But our cricketers were not made in a day; they are a product of years of hard work and persistence. Nike's Parallel Journeys depicts how young cricketers, no matter the socio-economic backgrounds they belong to, go through the same rigorous training for years before they can shine on the field. It's the pursuit of greatness that matters!
Sachin Burma: Cheer for India
Talk about sports and unfortunately people hardly ever go beyond cricket. What about other sports? Because India is home to several athletes who qualify for the Olympics. Through his in-house creation, Sachin Burma brings forth the work, hours of practice, dedication and struggle these athletes and sportspersons go through to put India on the global map. It calls for recognition and support for them and respect for their journey
So, which one struck a chord with your heart?
