#एकाम्रअनुभव: The Way to the Underworld

Shiva alongside Shakti is a power that no one dares to challenge. But what happens when you’re unaware of their true selves? Like many stories we’ve heard in Hindu mythology, this story also includes clueless demons, Kirti and Vasa, who fell in love with the beauty of Adi Shakti & crossed the line. To free humanity from their cruelty, it took only Adi Shakti’s feet to vanquish them to hell.

शरणागत दीनार्तं परित्राणपरायणे।

सर्वस्यार्ति हरे देवि, नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

Finding Lord Shiva was a tough task for Devi Parvati as She was unaware of the whereabouts of Gupt Kashi. Thanks to Lord Bramha’s tip, She located Shiva in His meditative state & decided to live there as well, as a Gopaluni. With the presence of Adi Shakti herself, things started to change all around Ekamra Kshetra. Devi Parvati’s aura & beauty transformed the place giving it a divine makeover. These changes attracted two Rakshasas, namely Kirti and Vasa, known for their oppression of innocents.

When they came to know about the presence of a Gopaluni with divine beauty they set out to catch a glimpse. Enchanted by the Goddess, they proposed marriage to Her. Aware of their intentions, Devi Parvati said that she will accept their proposal if they show Her around by carrying Her on their shoulders. The rakshasas, enraptured by Her divine beauty, readily agreed.

Devi Parvati stood on their shoulder for Kshetra Parikrama. As they moved to their enclave, she transformed herself into Her true unprecedented divine avatar. The rakshasas couldn’t tolerate the weight of Maa Adi Shakti & were vanquished to hell by Her feet. The place where the demons were squashed by Devi Parvati’s feet is known as Devipadahara, the present Devipadahara Tank.
